I have been a resident of the Southern Gold Coast for the past 40 years. I am a mother of 3 adult daughters and grandmother of 3 adorable kids.
My three daughters attended Elanora Primary School, then Marymount College. My eldest daughter now lives in Canada, one of my twin daughters lives in Perth and my other daughter lives here on the Gold Coast.
I endured the many challenges of being a single parent, juggling family life and a career, whilst maintaining an active and busy role as an advocate and ambassador for business and tourism on the Gold Coast.
I am extremely proud of my daughters, all of whom are now successful in their own careers. I hope that over the years I have taught them well, about the importance of standing up for your beliefs, valuing family and friends, and the notion that with the right attitude, anything is possible!
I have managed Beach House Seaside Resort and Shopping Plaza at Coolangatta and was also Secretary of the Body Corporate for 15 years. This role has given me vast knowledge and experience in the commercial and tourism aspects of the business, both of which are important components of the lifestyle and fabric of the Southern Gold Coast.
I have played an active yet voluntary role in many community organisations, as President of the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Gold Coast Regional Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Qld, and Chair of Cooly Rocks On. I am also a founding member of the Southern Gateway Advisory Committee, which delivers a strong voice to Council on projects and initiatives for the southern gateway precincts of Coolangatta, Rainbow Bay and Kirra.
For many years, I have been actively campaigning for major improvements in transport infrastructure, parking and public safety on the Southern Gold Coast. Rest assured, whether elected or not, I will continue to push for progress in these important areas.
There are also a number of issues that continue to divide our local community and these are issues where I will be advocating for:
The need for a new City Plan to protect the lifestyle we have here in Southern Gold Coast
- The need for a new City Plan to protect the lifestyle we have here in Southern Gold Coast
- Ensuring there is no inappropriate development in rural zoned areas
- Extensive resident consultation with State Government around planning for extension of Light Rail and Heavy Rail
- Managing parking in key areas without introducing paid parking
- Keeping rates at CPI or lower without reducing services
I believe resolving these important matters requires strong leadership, continued community consultation and ongoing commitment.
I am totally committed to the Southern Gold Coast. If re-elected, I am ready, willing and able to take up any future challenges, and continue to fight for better opportunities for residents of Division 14 over the course of the next four years.
I sincerely hope you choose to support me on my journey, which hopefully leads to a long, successful and mutually rewarding role as the elected Councillor for Division 14.
